The Keys to Your Heart |
You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free. In love, you feel the most alive when your partner is patient and never willing to give up on you. You'd like to your lover to think you are optimistic and happy. You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic. Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets. Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment. You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred. In this moment, you think of love as something you don't need. You just feel like flirting around and playing right now. |

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- Oh, what a feeling. Toy Yoda!
A former Hooters waitress has sued the restaurant where she worked, saying she was promised a new Toyota for winning a beer sales contest.
Instead she won a new toy Yoda -- the little green Jedi master from Star Wars.
Jodee Berry, 26, then a waitress at the Hooters in Panama City Beach, won a contest to see who could sell the most beer in April.
Manager Jared Blair told waitresses that the contest was a regional promotion, according to the lawsuit, and that the top 10 waitresses from each restaurant would be entered in a drawing. The person whose name was drawn would win a "new Toyota automobile," the lawsuit says Blair told them.
In early May, Berry said, Blair told her she had won.
"I couldn't believe that out of all the girls who were entered, I was the winner," Berry said.
She was blindfolded and led to the restaurant parking lot. When the blindfold was removed, Berry wasn't looking at a new car, but a Yoda doll.
Berry said she looked beyond the $40 toy, hoping to see the car driving around the corner. Blair, she said, was inside the restaurant laughing. But she wasn't.

"she stepped out into a parking lot, and there she saw, 10 inches and all a TOY YODA! and behind her, her manager was going "Ha Ha! We got you we got you!"*at this point mr law prof is very excited and makes funny little dance with fingers* Now at that point, should she have sued the manager and company under the Detrimental Reliance doctrine, she would have won! And she SHOULD! By the manager going 'ha ha we got you', perfect evidence is shown that the manager did in fact know that he was deceiving employess, and had INTENDED for the employees to depend on it! Number one AND number two --person promised depends on the promise in a significant way; reliance is foreseeable to promisor! Further more she is seeking compensation of her 'lost' Toyota! Number three -- justice requires compensation for the reliance! "
Well some background info. We are learning contract law now. He really likes his job.
-------
Anyways that aside I went to court ytd. TO OBSERVE!And the guard recommended another judge --- an ASIAN WOMAN (yay!! I told you we rock) and stated "if you can go watch her cases. She's a very good judge"
So I went to the courtroom and there was only the court clerk who was sitting there. Shaking his head "no you can't come in". I gave him O_o and OBVIOUSLY he was just kidding. So he asked if he could help (he's a nice asian guy too! We rule!) and he let me read the affidavit of the search warrant. WOW the case was SOO GRAPHIC man!! It invovles this guy in MY SCHOOL (well, the university has these things huh..) beating up his girl friend. State v. Wong (ASIAN GUY DAMMIT) in assault. He basically beat up his girlfriend, dragged her into his car, drove to parking lot, attempted to strangle her, called her parents and told them that their daughter was a "bloody whore" and said they had sex many times, then put a knife to her wrist and threatened to tell them everything horrid. Very graphic. Anways so I was "woah graphic" and he said it's sad that these things happen all the time. Anyways he told me that there wasn't going to be a trial today because they were only going to jury selections and the jury wasnt there (surprise, surprise) so he told me about the lawyer homicide case.
(so JUICY! I thought!) the trial of the attempted homicide(murder) on one lawyer by another lawyer. State v. Joice. but they were undergoing jury selection so it was so unjuicy. But I did get to see how things went. That was interesting. Even saw the guy being brought in, handcuffs and all. With two big and bulky guards. Actually I followed them in. HAHahaha. Then the guard told me (because as it was now nothing was happening) to watch State v. Murray. Violation of the Uniform Code of Substance Act. VUCSA which is also -- drug trafficing. Said this guy Murray had been tried and convicted about 10 times~!
So I went to see (sigh, also wanted to watch lawyer and student... the lawyer one has some media on it, so i saw a reporter.) the case. Entered in mid questioning! The defendant was called to the stand and I heard his entire testimony! and then after that the attorney's argued! yay! Some juice! How did it end? I dunno. The jury decides on a later date. Think they have a week.
Okay. So I went to 3 courtrooms. all the judges were female (yay!). But unlike what you see on tv, very few people watch cases, and the courtrooms are not that grand. =(
but it was all cool. The defendant even pointed at me to cite an example. "just like that lady in the back" *ah!! look left look right, ME?!* well he was just describing what jacket he saw. "dark blue, just like..." Still, a big sweat drop.
that's it. need to study.
